kind:host,service
entities of any of those kinds

Ctrl+K opens the palette. Type to find entities, commands and places at once; the best match is selected. Up and Down (or Ctrl+P and Ctrl+N) move, Enter acts, Esc closes.
| Line starts with | Finds | Enter |
|---|---|---|
| nothing | entities, commands and places | focuses, runs or goes there |
> | commands only | runs the command |
@ | bookmarks, then recent places | goes there |
/ | edits the filter | applies it to every lens |
? | asks the language model | sends the question (language model) |
Shift+Enter on an entity adds it to the selection instead of focusing it.
With nothing typed, the palette lists what applies now: clear the selection, compare the focus with the selection, open or clear the focus, clear the filter, go back, and show what changed. Recent places follow. Enter runs nothing until you move to a line with Down, so opening the palette and pressing Enter does nothing by accident. Type > to list every command.
After > and a command's ID, a space, then Tab completes its parameters:
>time.last span=6h
>lens.show lens=grid
>place.save name=incident
Every command, with its parameters, is in Commands.
Press / in a lens, or type / in the palette. The filter is a list of terms separated by spaces, and an entity must match all of them:
kind:host,service
entities of any of those kinds
source:demo
entities from that module instance
status:warn
status warn or worse; status:crit for critical
metric:cpu.utilisation
entities whose module offers that metric; Tab completes the name
same_as:prom/host/db-07
that entity and every entity linked to it as the same thing (identity)
#prod
entities tagged prod
has:owner
entities with an owner attribute
team=storefront
an attribute equal to a value; also !=
cores>=16
a number compared: <, <=, >, >=
memory>8GiB
a number compared with a unit, when the attribute has one
name~payments
an attribute containing text
A number may end in a unit, with no space: B, KiB, MiB, GiB or TiB for bytes; ns, ms, s, min, h or d for times; % for percentages; bit, Mbit or Gbit for bits; k, M or G for counts; and /s after any of them for a rate. Detail shows an attribute's unit when its module gives one, as memory 15.6 GiB. A unit of another kind than the attribute's, such as memory>8ms, matches nothing. On an attribute with no unit, the unit only scales the number.
A value with spaces is quoted: name~"payments api", and so is a ref with spaces: same_as:"inv/host/db 07". A term that does not parse is marked where it goes wrong, and the filter is not applied until it does. Esc with nothing focused or selected clears the filter.
Examples, in the demo world:
/kind:host cores>=64
/status:warn kind:service
/team=storefront
Some lines look like questions but the palette answers them itself, with no model and nothing sent anywhere. The first row shows what it will do:
